A Snowy Day!

A Snowy Day!

Well I can not believe that in the middle of April and we are getting snow here in BC as we normally are much warmer than we are now! It seems that we can blame it on the crazy weather patterns that have been effecting weather all over Canada! I am not one for cold weather as it is when that happens that my arthritis is at its worst!

All I can say is that God must be up in Heaven and is smiling now that he sees all of us here grouchy and grumbling because of the poor weather that we have been receiving. I have been trying to stay as busy as I can these last few days as I am looking forward to tomorrow as I will be going to visit my old choir mates and have a photo taken with them for the new year starting in September 2008! I will be so happy to see them all and have a short visit with them. I will not be singing with them as there is no way I can stand on the risers for any length of time a I get so sore and stiff. I do love singing though and hope that my health will improve enough in the Fall that I will be able to return.

All I can say today is look out for the snow as it is here and it is making the roads slippery and dangerous! What a crazy time and the drivers on the roads drive like the weather is hot and sunny with ideal road conditions and then there are so many accidents and fatal deaths! It is so sad that people are in such a hurry that they can not take a few extra minutes and arrive at their destination safely. What will it take to tell them to slow down? :-)

I hope that you are all doing well this week and that it is now time to celebrate the weekend as it is here now! What a blessing that is to me my friends!

Blessings in Him,

Chris

Cooking Success!

A Day to Remember!

Today I was remembering about the weekend that passed and it was so nice and relaxing for me. On Friday evening I made the butternut squash soup for the Saturday supper and it turned out really well. On Saturday evening after my friends arrived we had some time to visit with one another then I entered the kitchen to make the Zesty Shrimp Linguine as I had promised and it turned out really well! It was a cooking success and all my friends and my wife were cheering me on and was very supportive to me! I was happy that it turned out so well and that it made me think about how wonderful it is to take the first steps to making something new and to not be afraid to try new things!

On Sunday we have a relaxing day and then went out for supper with Grace's uncle who was happy to have something to do as he gets so easily bored with life! So all in all the weekend went very well and I wanted to take this time to let everybody know how happy and successful things turned out and no I did not poison anybody this time! :-)

Blessings,
Chris

A New Day

Hi All!

A new day is upon me and this is the first post of my new blog. I wanted to start this as I have so many new friends now who want to know how I am doing and that is so cool! Since joining Shepherd of Hope Christian Chat as well as Rest Ministries I have been making new friends online and it has been wonderful! These new Christian friends are precious to me and I want to keep them all informed as to how I am doing on a bi-weekly basis.

There have been a lot of changes in my life in the last couple of weeks. I have been reinstated to the Pain Clinic at St. Paul's Hospital here in Vancouver, BC Canada and I have been given some new medications and taken off a couple of medicines as well. It has been a difficult adjustment as the medicine has side effects and I have been really drowsy with one of the medicines that I take. So that is not good as my wife gets so upset that I do not have the energy to do the things that I need to get done around the house! :-) So that can create a few challenges but I am doing my best not to get worried about it all!

I have a church friend of mine George who is 84 years old and you would never know it! He is so full of energy and loves life to the fullest! Oh I wish that I could just have half the energy that he has I would be so happy! :-) It would be so cool to have it right now but I am thankful to God for what I do have. George has been encouraging me to get involved in new things and something that he is passionate about and that is food. So I subscribed to Kraft and a few other food website newsletters so that I could get recipes and such so that I can learn how to cook better. My first real challenge is coming this weekend when we invited some friends over for supper. I will be making butternut squash soup and Zesty Shrimp Linguine so that should be really nice! I will let you know how it goes and if I still have my friends afterwards! :-)

Well, as I mentioned I have been really drowsy from one of the medicines that I am taking for pain for my Fibromyalgia. It is an antidepressant but the Doctor is giving me a low dose amount to use so that during the day my pain would not be so intense. Also it is used to help me sleep better at night as well.

Please pray for me as I am slowly coming off the morphine that the Doctor prescribed as I have been on this medicine since 2003 so that is a long time! The way the Doctor is bringing me off the med is supposed to be good so that I do not have any withdrawal symptoms.

Well, everybody please comment on my post if you have the time and I do look forward to hearing from all of you sometime soon!

Hugs & Blessings,

Chris
